Washington Butler, who is from Puyallup Washington, was always interested in the arts. The choir she sang in was entered into performances in singing contests, and was a part of schools and in community theatre. The title she won was of I Spit on Your Grave which is a remake of the 1978 film that had the same title. Butler was initially at first sceptical about the film's violence and nudity but the characters' development as well as the feminist aspect convinced her. Butler played Jennifer Hills a writer who was victimized by a gang in a cabin. Her character seeks revenge on her attackers. Directed by Steven R. Monroe the film was released on October 8th, the 8th of October, 2010. The film was released in November 2011. Butler as well as Estella Warren started filming the thriller based on psychological research The Stranger Within in Mallorca in Spain.
